Honeywell, Inc. was founded by Mark C. Honeywell in 1906 and entered the defense industry during World War II by manufacturing aviation products. The special materials business can be traced back to a small company founded by chemist William H. Nichols in 1870. In 1999, it merged with AlliedSignal, Inc. to form the current Honeywell International.
